fiat grande punto auto spare/repair

i bought an 07 fiat grande punto and before i even got it home the gearbox started playing up, couldnt contact the man i bought it from as the number has been off since, good looking car just needs a mechanic, had it plugged into diagnostics and that was saying it needs a gear selection solenoid but im no mechanic just need to cut my losses
