GLOWGUARD GBA LIGHT -IN EXCELLENT CONDITION SHINES BETTER THAN ANYOTHER GBA LIGHT

SWAP Description
he GBA Advanced is indeed an advance in technology. The graphics are far more detailed and colorful when compared to the previous incarnation; Gameboy Color. However, the one advancement that has not been made concerns a very crucial aspect of the system, the screen. The screen remains without a backlight, meaning that an outside source of light is needed for the system. Sometimes a lamp (or even the sun) is not available to provide this light. Since Nintendo has again not opted to make an official light of their own, GBA owners must looks to third party developers to illuminate their screens.

When choosing a GBA light, consumers have numerous options. However, many of those options are either bad, really bad, or so completely awful you wonder how something like that got made (Nuby's Cobra Light comes to mind for this one).

The Glowguard from Interact thankfully is not bad at all. However, it is not without its faults. After a while you realize that there may never be a GBA light without some gripes.

The Glowguard is a dual purpose peripheral. It is used as both a light and as a screen protector. It hooks on to the back of your GBA. When you flip it up, you will see a small blue LED light at the top. It has a special visor around it to spread the light. When you flip it down, the Glowguard protects your screen.

The Glowguard connects through the link cable port where it gets it power from. This is a good feature because it adds little weight and saves on having to buy extra batteries. However, since the light is using the power from your GBA batteries, your GBA batteries lifespan will be cut in half.
This has not been a problem for me because I have three sets of rechargeable batteries. This may dissuade others though.

There is a pass through feature on this light for the link cable. So when you hook the light up, you can still link up with your friends. Thankfully this is definitely a multi-player friendly light. Also, the light is easy to take on and off. The light clicks onto the two slots at the back of the GBA. There are two buttons to press if you want to take it back off. It is very easy.

The light is not flexible, nor does it need to be. When you flip the light up, it stays in one position lighting up the screen with no glare. This is where the light excels. The fact that you see no glare makes this light a worthy purchase.

Now, on to the gripes. Where the Glowguard excels as a light, it performs very poorly as a guard. When you put the guard down to protect the screen, the visor is pushing right up next to the bottom of the screen. If there were to be pressure applied to it, the Glowguard could in fact crack the screen. So please, do not sit on your GBA when you have the Glowguard on.
