Mg midget twin cam injection

1979 Mg Midget 1.4 k series 105bhp MOT 16/11/2018

Lets start this off with the shell , it is a 1500 shell i bought, it already had new floor pans, boot floor, sills, and various repairs already done, but since ive had it ive stone chipped all the underside and gave it a full respray in ford saffron yellow inside and out, so the bodywork is solid and really straight, it does have the odd small mark from garage storage but this is nothing that affects the general condition of the paintwork, the wheels are 13 inch cosmics with good tyres all round
The interior is in good shape it again is 40 year old nearly but it has aged really well with no tears in the seats, the ignition has been changed to push button and also has the starter so it gives that real sense of being in a sports car, the steering wheel is a mountney classic, the cheap feel plastic door handles and winders have been replaced with alloy ones from a classic mini, the roof is a fiberglass works hardtop with glass windows, unfortunatly i dont have the soft top with it but these are easily sourced through ebay,

Onto the suspension, all the front bushes have been replaced and the worn out sloppy old front springs have been replaced with competition stiffened springs also the hubs have had new grease nipples and regreased both sides and all four dampers have been drained and refilled with oil so this midget rides perfect with no rattles and gives real response back to the driver ,

The brake lines from back to front are new including rear and front flexi hoses, the calipers have been rebuilt with new pistons and seals along with new discs, mintex pads and clips the rear also wasnt missed with new pistons and mintex shoes

Now the best part the engine is a 105bhp 1.4 from a low mileage 2002 rover 25, sadly like a moron i left all the paper work to prove the mileage in the shell of the rover when the scrap men took it, but the sound of the engine will more then prove this as it dosent suffer from the notorious noisey lifters that these engines are known for, it has had a full service including oil, filter, cone air filter, spark plugs, timing belt and head gasket, the restricted rover 25 throttle body has been binned and replaced with the unrestricted mg version so it revs like no tomorrow, the exhaust is full stainless after the manifold and sounds amazing not too loud and not to quiet it is the perfect soundtrack for a sunny sunday evening, it is mated to the later stronger 4 speed midget box, it is perfectly suited to the engine, the clutch and slave cylinder is new, the oil in both the diff and box have been replaced,

So if your looking for a classic car you can tinker with the carbs and fiddle with your timing light every other weekend this is not the car for you, however if your looking for a classic car with timeless looks and modern performance that you can jump in and drive and not worry about that rain getting in the dizzy cap then this is the car for you
