For sale is my 1962 Austin-Healey Sprite MkII, an interesting and increasingly rare example of an Australian-built Sprite.

This is not a standard UK-built car. The original identification plate confirms its Australian origins, showing The Austin (Australia) Motor Company Pty Ltd, Zetland, NSW, Australia. The plate records the car number as 23079 and the original colour as Black.

The car is now finished in red, giving it a very attractive period appearance.

Austin Australia, Zetland, NSW build plate
Car No: 23079
Original colour recorded on plate: Black
Current colour: Red

The Australian connection makes this a particularly interesting Sprite for collectors. Australian-market Sprites are considerably less commonly encountered in the UK than their British-built counterparts.

The original identification plate is still present and clearly shows the Australian manufacturer details, making it an important piece of the car’s history.

Condition

The car is being sold as a classic/collector’s car and is offered in its current condition.

The car has been used for classic rallies & ideal for hillclimbs and sprints

Please study all of the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description. As with any car of this age, prospective buyers are welcome to inspect the vehicle before bidding.

There will naturally be areas requiring attention depending on the buyer’s intended use, but this is a genuine early Austin-Healey Sprite with an interesting Australian history, rather than a modern reproduction.

A great opportunity

A very appealing project for someone looking for something a little different from the usual British-market Sprite.

The combination of the 1962 MkII specification, Australian provenance and surviving Australian identification plate makes this a particularly interesting car.

Viewing is welcome by prior arrangement.
