As one of the quietest flip-up helmets on the market, with outstanding aero-acoustic and aerodynamic properties, the System 5 still represents the highest level of technology in helmet design.
The helmet also provides optimum protection whilst maintaining an incredibly low weight of just 1,690 grams. The fibreglass, carbon and Kevlar laminate outer shell, coupled with an expanded polystyrol inner shell, provide an extraordinary level of impact absorption. In addition to this an integrated neckband in the chinstrap provides additional protection by reducing any twisting of the helmet. This ensures that the helmet remains in the best possible position on the rider’s head in the event of an accident.
Ventilation is provided through generous ventilation openings located in a ‘vacuum’ zone for maximum airflow and is continuously adjustable via a slide located at the back of the helmet. Further ventilation is provided by a two-way adjustable slide located on the front of the helmet. The DuPont Coolmax interior lining is also breathable and is both removable and washable.
BMW Motorrad has designed the BMW Communication System, which includes a helmet-specific installation kit, with the popular System 5 and System 6 helmets in mind. The much anticipated new BMW helmet Communication System, offering a range of technological advancements on its predecessor, is available in BMW Motorrad dealerships and can be installed within the helmet to provide wireless communication whilst riding.
The BMW System 5 lid has a washable and removable liner and a chin strap with an integrated neck strap for a closer fit. The flip-front helmet comes fitted with an anti-scratch visor that’s been treated to be anti-fog, too. The visor is ventilated, as is the shell.
Sold my bike so sadly no longer required
For the right deal, I will leave the new quality stereo headphones in the helmet, which are supurb for MP3 players, Sat Nav etc
