Description:
Selling or Up for Swaps is my 2007 BMW X5 E70. I’ve owned this car for the last 3 years and it’s been an absolute workhorse—comfortable, powerful, and super practical. Never missed a beat. it’s been really well looked after throughout its life.
As of 4th April 2025, all outstanding BMW recalls have been completed by BMW Watford. This included a new driver’s airbag, passenger airbag, heater control rewiring, and a new alternator bolt—so that’s all up to date and sorted.
Up until my ownership, it had full BMW service history (stamped in the book). Since then, it's been looked after by my trusted private mechanic in High Wycombe. During my ownership, it's had:
- New front discs and pads
- Oil service
- Gearbox service (including new sump)
- New glow plugs and a genuine BMW glow plug control module
- Cleaned EGR valve
- Genuine replacement transfer case actuator
I've got videos of the work being done by my mechanic as proof.
While doing that work, I also removed the rear propshaft to improve fuel economy. It’s been running in rear-wheel drive since, which hasn’t caused any issues at all. The propshaft and all bolts are still with the car, so it can easily be refitted—it’s a simple DIY job.
Now for full transparency—just a few things to mention: IT IS A BMW X5...
1 - The battery went flat a couple of months ago, and since then the driver’s door won’t open from the outside. Might be a simple fix, but I never got round to sorting it.
2 - There’s a parking sensor fault that brings up a warning on the dash—again, doesn’t affect the drive, just a sensor issue.
3 - Both side mirror heaters aren’t working, confirmed by a full diagnostic check I had done recently.
- Propshaft is off, as mentioned, but doesn’t affect performance and can be reinstalled easily. Personal Preference.
Despite these few quirks, the car drives lovely and has a lot going for it. It's the SE model but comes loaded with factory extras (check the VIN for the full spec), including:
- Self-leveling suspension
- Sport suspension settings
- Sport leather steering wheel
- Puddle lights
- 20” Y-spoke alloy wheels
- Full sport package (body trim)
- Electric memory seats & steering wheel
- Heated seats
- Parking distance control
- Xenon headlights
- Auto air con
- BMW Assist
- 6-CD changer, DVD player
- M Sport High Gloss Shadowline trim
- BMW Individual Sun Protection Glass
- Anthracite headliner
Only selling due to moving to Watford in the last 8 months and the ULEZ zone is now expanding into my commute—unfortunately, it’s no longer viable for me to keep her. She’s been a fantastic car and has really looked after me.
Any questions, feel free to drop me a message.
