1996 E39 540i M62B44 NV

For sale is my BMW 540i auto 4.4 V8 in wonderful Vermont green. She's covered 165k and still drives lovely, engine and gearbox are smooth with plenty of power on tap! Has the earlier M62B44 engine which is more reliable due to not having vanos. Also these earlier engines don't tent to suffer with timing chain guides failing. No chain rattle from this one whatsoever.
12 stamps in the service book all from bmw garages and receipts thereafter with the most recent service done only about 1k ago.
MOT: Nov 2025, Recent replacement parts include: Fuel filter,Spark plugs, Water pump, Battery, front pads and discs.
Body work is in great condition for its age but does have the odd small mark here and there, the worst being a bit of rust on the boot lid around the badge.
Sport steering wheel and seats which are heated although the drivers seat bolster is torn, also has a cigarette burn on one of the rear seats. The rear blind works great but the side window binds sometimes don't want to retract. Drivers power folding wing mirror is a little sluggish but does eventually fold in.
18" AC Schnitzer type 3 rep wheels with hubcentric spacers.
The car is unmodified apart from halo lights and backbox delete which makes the car sound lovely (not too loud and no drone on the motorway). I will include the original back box. Alpina front bumper and rear spoiler from factory. Surprisingly returns 30mpg on a long run!
Unfortunately it was registered cat c in Feb 2009, previous owner slipped on black ice and damaged a wheel so no bodywork repairs.
Nevertheless its a wonderful car that drives, sounds and looks fantastic and gets lots of compliments. I'll be very sad to see her go. Any questions please ask
