Blue 106 listing
You are looking at my rare original factory 1.6 16V Peugeot 106 Rallye S2 in Indigo Blue - Left Hand Drive. Those that know these cars will know that the UK only officially imported the 1.6 8V version. But in certain European Markets they offered a factory 16V Rallye. In basic terms, it was a GTI engine in a Rallye, along with a few extra toys if you specified them at the time.
This is one such car. Originally from Greece, it has a factory 1.6 16V engine, has power steering and electric windows. The power steering is actually lovely, and being LHD, the electric windows make it much easier if parking in multi-storey car parks, leading over to grab a ticket etc.
As said, and as per the Pics, it is obvs LHD. Having had many of these little rockets, a few of which have been LHD, I can say that I personally prefer the LHD cars as in my opinion, they seem better balanced and handle a little better (maybe because they would have been originally designed for LHD, and weight distributed accordingly).
This car drives better than ANY of the previous ones I've had - and I even had a brand new RHD UK 8V version back in 1997.
It's a joy to drive and shockingly fast. Even by today's standards.
It has the Satchel Satchshift Short Shifter, linkages and extended gear lever fitted, which is a joy to behold and gives the genuine old school rally shifter experience. The lever is high up right next to the steering wheel, so the interaction is awesome. This was a £400 item and has done less than 200 miles since fitting.
It has a full supersprint racing exhaust system, widely acknowledged as the best you can get for these cars. Cost was nearly £1000, again less than 200 miles since fitting.
It has the Ramair induction system, which probably gives no extra power, but makes a gorgeous induction roar!
Suspension, brakes and most other mechanical bits are all stock. In the images it's shown with rare Compomotive Alloys on it, it won't come on these. It is offered with the std 106 GTI alloys on it, with road legal tyres/tread. The Compomotive rims shown, are available but will be subject to additional cost by negotiation.
The mileage is approx 125k miles (but shown in km), which I believe is genuine. As I understand (from when I bought it), the engine had been rebuilt approx 20k miles ago. I have no paperwork for this, but from the way it drives - I believe this to be the case. You can even see from the little vid in the ad, the idling of the engine is so smooth. Smoother and less lumpy than any Rallye, 8V/16V that I've ever had.
Being from a hot climate in Greece, with no salt on the roads, the car appears to be solid and in much better shape underneath than most that I've seen of late. Paintwork/Lacquer is as usual, all shown in the pics. So will need attention.
The rear sears have been removed and it's all been nicely panelled/carpetted out. The battery has also been correctly relocated to the rear boot area, to help balance the car.
Front seats and belts are all as per std issue. Front drivers seat has a white 'Tippex' stain as seen in the pics. I know this can be sorted out with some type of white spirit or thinners or such like, but I don't want to risk making it worse - so have left that for the new owner to deal with.
I recently gave the car an oil and filter change (circa 200miles ago) and it has a long MOT until the end of the year (Dec 2025).
It's a lovely, sound and extremely rare little motor. To the right person, whom is willing to continue the 'restomod' theme, it will be a unique and amazing car. The values of these things are rocketing. Being an ultra rare OEM factory 16V, this value is sure to only go one way.
