Mendi Neurofeedback Device/Headset
Location: East Midlands - Nottingham
Swap Value:
Description:
I received this headset as part of a 30 day study. I have not used it since. It is in new condition and works perfectly.
The device itself runs in conjunction with an app that you install onto your phone and as well as improving concentration, mental function, sleep, etc, I have been advised that it can help with those that are neurodiverse.
Comes with box, the headset itself and USB-C charging cable.
See below:
The Mendi headset is a portable neurofeedback device that uses {fNIRS technology} (functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy) to monitor blood flow and oxygenation in the brain's prefrontal cortex, providing real-time feedback through a mobile app to help users improve focus, manage emotions, and reduce stress via engaging, game-like exercises. It's a non-invasive brain-training system designed to strengthen executive functions, making it easier to achieve mental clarity and better decision-making by teaching users to control their brain activity, similar to mindfulness training but with visual feedback.
How it works
fNIRS Sensors: The headband has optical sensors that shine light into the scalp to measure changes in blood oxygen levels in the prefrontal cortex (PFC).
Real-time Feedback: An accompanying app translates these brain signals into a simple visual game (like a floating ball), where increased focus and calm lead to better game performance.
Gamified Training: The brain learns to associate focused states with positive game outcomes, strengthening neural pathways for better attention and emotional regulation.
Key features & benefits
Targets Prefrontal Cortex: Aims to improve executive functions like attention, impulse control, and emotional regulation.
Portable & User-Friendly: Easy to wear at home or on the go, unlike cumbersome lab-grade equipment.
Subscription-Free: A one-time purchase with no ongoing app fees.
Reported Benefits: Users often experience enhanced focus, stress reduction, improved mental well-being, and better sleep.
Considerations
Accuracy Trade-off: While convenient, its signal-to-noise ratio is lower than research-grade devices, meaning it's less precise but more practical for home use.
Individual Results: Like all neurofeedback, efficacy can vary, and some users with trauma or certain conditions might need professional guidance.
