2011 (11) BMW E87 116D Sport 5 Door £35 Tax, MOT 08/2027, Cheap To Run & Insure

Purchased earlier this year to do a navigational charity run. (Best economy and shortest distance not a race!)

After sorting some issues with the car, I used it this weekend to travel over 500 miles. It averaged over 50mpg

These 116D models are quite difficult to find. They are a 2.0D with 114BHP.
This means that they have not been as stressed as models like a 120d (181BHP) with essentially the same engine. More importantly, they are seriously cheap to insure for younger drivers, amazing economy and only £35 tax.

When considering your next cheap car, please consider that some cars of the same age are over £800 per year to tax.

I would be thrilled to have a RWD car like this if I was a young driver. There are no infotainment screens and it is still a proper driver’s car.

I have a V5 in my name. Unfortunately is not HPI clear, it shows as a total loss in its past history. I can only assume this is due to the dent on the front wing as all the paintwork appears to be factory.
The front number plate (a spare in the boot now) was the original Barons BMW plate like the rear and the dealer screen sticker but I put a new front plate on as it has a crack..

The car passed the MOT with some advisories. All these have been corrected now so the car has a valid MOT until August 2027.

Since the MOT, it has had extensive work including:
New set of 4 tyres
New brake discs and pads front and rear
Service
Boot handle
Door latch plus lots more little jobs.

It is booked into Ocean BMW for an airbag recall in October (earliest appointment) The airbag in the centre of the driver’s steering wheel will be changed free of charge.
If you are not near Plymouth, this can be done at any BMW main dealer for free.

I have some paperwork and all the books but unfortunately not full history.

The interior is fresh and clean not a dog or a smokers car!

Faults:
There are a few small scratches and blemishes around the car, mainly a scratch on the rear wing, a dent in the plastic rear bumper and a dent on the front of the o/s/f wing. These are photographed

The car is ready to drive anywhere and I hope will prove cheap motoring for the new owner.
In my drive this weekend, no warnings lights showed and it proved totally reliable and very cheap to run.
