2001 Vauxhall Astra Mk4 SRi – 600/610BHP
This is my pride and joy, a 2001 Vauxhall Astra Mk4 SRi that I’ve spent around £41,000–£42,000 on over the last 8 years.
It has a 2.3-litre stroker turbo engine, GT35 ball-bearing turbo, forged Wossner pistons and rods, MaxxECU with Low/Medium/High power settings, upgraded fuel system, fuel rail and fuel pump, braided fuel lines, upgraded cooling and oil cooler.
The MaxxECU setup also allows the engine to run with up to 25% ethanol content in the fuel, when correctly configured.
The car has fully adjustable Spax suspension all round, supplied by Spax Suspension, based in Bicester, Oxfordshire.
It also has an F23 gearbox with LSD, 18" Bola alloys, roll cage, bucket seats and aluminium floors.
CUSTOM BODYWORK
A lot of the bodywork is custom-made and fabricated by me.
The rear wheel arches are from a BMW E46, which I cut and welded into the Astra myself to give the car a completely different look and wider, more aggressive appearance.
The bonnet has a raised bonnet bulge specifically made to give clearance for the turbo setup, and I also made the front grille myself rather than using an off-the-shelf grille.
It also has genuine CFC carbon-fibre wings sourced all the way from Greece.
The combination of the CFC carbon-fibre wings, BMW E46 rear arches, custom bonnet and hand-made grille makes this a genuine one-off Astra.
It also has an added flame kit.
PERFORMANCE
The car is running around 600–610BHP and has had a huge amount of time, money and fabrication put into it.
I’ve spent approximately £41,000–£42,000 on the car over the last 8 years.
FEATURED ON YOUTUBE
The car was featured on Living Life Fast with Man Like Ricky around three years ago. Ricky came out and drove the car, so there is footage of the actual car on YouTube.
WHAT I WANT TO SWAP FOR
I’m looking for an upgraded long-wheelbase crew-cab van, ideally 6 or 7 seats, with an upgraded/better engine or other worthwhile modifications already carried out.
I’m open to different makes, models and conversions. The right van is more important than the badge.
