1956 Rover P4 90

Location: Northern Ireland - Ballymena
Swap Value: £5.000+

Description:

This 1956 Rover P4 90 is a reliable classic. It’s easy to live with, simple to work on, and parts availability is still quite good.
The engine and gearbox are strong, and with overdrive it’s perfectly comfortable at modern road speeds. It benefits from a Bluetooth conversion in the original Radio (With working knobs).
Unlike some classics of this age, it doesn’t demand constant attention or special treatment – you can just get in, turn the key, and enjoy it.

2638cc Straight-six petrol engine
4-speed with Laycock Overdrive

It’s one of very few left in black from 1956, and it has the rare flat-panel front with the later rear light setup. It’s a solid, usable car with all the important welding already done, and the original interior gives it that authentic period feel.

My favourite thing about it is how dependable it has been. Every time I’ve used it, it’s performed exactly as it should. If you’re after a classic Rover that combines character with reliability, this is a very good example.

This is a 1956 Rover P4 90, a rare example finished in black – one of only 8 known to survive from this year in this colour. It has the unusual and desirable flat-panel front combined with the later rear light configuration, making it stand out from other P4s.

The odometer shows around 50,000 miles, which is believed to be genuine. The car has been structurally restored with a lot of professional welding completed, including new sills, door supports, and pillar-base replacements, so it’s solid and ready to use. The interior is all original, untouched and full of character. Mechanically, it benefits from a 4-speed gearbox with overdrive and is driven often – it always starts and runs reliably. Photos of restoration process can be provided on request

Paperwork is limited, but the condition of the car and the work that has been done speaks for itself. There’s no immediate work needed; it’s ready to enjoy as is, though as with any classic, ongoing care will keep it at its best.
